Age Restriction for low-powered bicycles

Regulated by Article 5 of Subsidiary Legislation 65.26

NOTE: fails to comply with EU-Directive 2002/24/EC

A persons who drives a power-assisted cycle or a pedelec has to be at least 16 years old. Moreover the law obliges a person who rides a pedelec or a power assisted bike to be in possession of his or her identity card.

Before being allowed to use a power-assisted cycle or a pedelec he or she must register the pedelec with the Transport Authority. For more information click here
